TED Talks That Will Change Your Life

If you haven’t seen any Ted Talks, you’re missing out.

TED is a non profit organization with the slogan “ideas worth spreading”.

These short, informational videos are by experts in all areas.

I started watching TED talks when I was introduced to them by a professor I had while working on my master’s degree.

There are two main reasons I like TED talks.

One, the variety of topics is endless.

There’s a TED Talk for just about any area of your life.

Two, the videos are short and to the point.

I don’t have time to listen to a bunch of fluff and I appreciate how the talks are kept short so that I can learn the lesson and move on (probably to the next TED Talk).

I’ve watched many of them over the past couple of years, but I’ve chosen five of them to share with you that I think can really, truly, change your life.

If you implement the advice given in these talks, I really believe you will live a happier, more fulfilling life.

So here they are, 5 TED Talks That Will Change Your Life.

TED Talks That Will Change Your Life #1:

I don’t know about you, but I am constantly being pulled in 5,000 directions.

It seems that people truly don’t have an idea as to how busy I am or how much I have on my plate.

Between teaching, going to school myself, blogging, working another part time job, being a wife, being a mother, being a cook, and being a housekeeper, I barely have time to sleep.

I really truly appreciate it when people ask me to spend time with them or to attend certain events, or even to do a favor for them.

However, for years I’ve had this guilt associated with saying no.

I didn’t want to piss anyone off or make anyone feel that I didn’t care about them if I said no or declined.

This TED Talk shows us how to stop giving a f@#$ and how to politely say no and mean it, then how not to give a f#$% or have guilt about saying no.

I’m already stressed as it is, and I don’t need guilt on top of that.

This TED Talk really helped me on my journey to no guilt.

TED Talks That Will Change Your Life #2:

Body language.

We all know what that is and know that it’s a big part of communication.

But, do you ever think about your OWN body language?

Did you know what your body language can actually dictate how you perform?

Confidence can be a big problem for many people, but in this TED Talk, Amy Cuddy tells us how much it truly can affect us, and gives us tips on how to use it to our benefit.

Give it a try and let me know if it works for you!

I’ve actually used her tricks.

I’ve noticed a big boost in my confidence since implementing them.

TED Talks That Will Change Your Life #3:

Being uncomfortable is, well, uncomfortable.

No one likes to be uncomfortable, so we try to constantly avoid it.

When I was dealing with anxiety so bad, I would avoid situations that I knew would make me uncomfortable.

That only made my anxiety stick around, and I didn’t want that.

Facing our fears can open up so many doors for us that we never could even imagine.

The more we face our fears the more comfortable we will become with being uncomfortable.

Luvvie Ajayi does a wonderful job explaining how important it is to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and how it can change our lives.

TED Talks That Will Change Your Life #4:

Happiness.

It seems like we are constantly and always chasing it.

I’ll be happy when I lose the extra weight.

When I get married, I’ll be happy.

I’ll be happy when I find the perfect career.

If I volunteer more I’ll be happy.

I’ll be happy if I can just make enough money to be comfortable.

It’s always something.

Happiness is important in life, but there’s so much more about life than happiness.

In this TED Talk, Emily Esfahani Smith tells us exactly why there’s more to life than happiness.

TED Talks That Will Change Your Life #5:

Are you feeling stuck in your life?

Do you have days where you just can’t get excited about what’s to come?

Have you ever heard the phrase, if you want to get the same results, keep doing the same thing?

Yeah.

Most of us have one or more areas in our lives that we want to change for the better, but we just don’t do it.

We are the boss of our minds and our bodies.

As Mel Robbins talks about in this TED Talk, our parents make us do the things we don’t want to do as children (like chores or homework) because if they didn’t make us, we wouldn’t do them.

This talk is thought provoking and helps us to stop screwing ourselves over and how to live a better life.

So there you have it. Watch these at your leisure and let me know what you think.

There are so many other TED Talks out there; these don’t even scrape the surface. I have really received some of the best life advice from TED Talks, and the best part is…it’s free!!

Happy watching!
